A big Day Tommorow

Salaam Aleikum wr wb,
Today was a good day. Not so boring, not so interesting. Not too frustrating. Just relaxing and productive enough. Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar. Tommorow will be a big day. I'm going to Boston with Azra. I decided not to skip school and betray my dad, because Islam teaches us that our parents have rights on us. So i just asked to be dismissed early. I'm glad I did. I hope that all will be well. InshAllah everything will go as planned and Azra will get what she needs to get done. Today on SIC International (the Portuguese Channel) they had a round table discussion, and Wahabism came up. Hearing Wahabism (wahabismo) discussed in Portuguese was interesting. I cleaned today. Sometimes i really want to move to a different place, get a new start where no one will know me, where everything is new. Does anyone else in high school feel that way?

"Balance": Islam and my Dad
My father absolutley accepts that i'm Muslim, that i am dedicated to becoming a better Muslim. And yet despite all my efforts, he still knows very little about it. Maybe it's because he's home so little of the time, or perhaps i'm not a good islamic role model for him. I've tried talking to him, giving him stuff to read, everything. He knows what islam is, he knows what a Mosque is, when and why i pray (if he's home), fasting. But he doesn't know why, or what we believe. He just knows it's somewhat different than what he believes. Everytime something that involves me making a sacrifice or doing something different, if we do discuss it, he often brings up "balance". You need balance in your life, he says. He believes that if you are a good person then God will forgive everything .He has these semi conservative veiws on politics, such as against gay marriage, abortion, for the Iraq war and oil drilling in Alaska. It's amazing he is like this, despite the fact that he is uninsured, and i am only insured by a state run program the state runs which was established by a Democratic governer (of course neither the Democrats or Republicans offer any relief to the working class, FORWARD TO A MASS PARTY OF LABOUR!). I just don't know if he'll ever understand. May Allah guide him.
